Old Burial Hill, founded in 1638, is a historic cemetery that is located adjacent to Redd’s Pond and “Old Town” aka “Downtown Marblehead” by longtime residents. It is the final resting place for Black Joe, a famous Revolutionary War Veteran and a victim of the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. The Cemetery contains many historic Puritan gravestones that feature carvings from the seventeenth century. At the top of Old Burial Hill, you can see gorgeous views of the Marblehead Harbor and Salem Sound.
